Domestic Chores and Relaxing at Home.

April 4-5, 2010.

The last couple of days have been humid with fog and drizzle in the morning and overcast skies with temps reaching the 80's in the afternoon. In the afternoons the winds has been from the South adding to the warm humid mix.  We decided yesterday to break down and put on the air conditioner to escape the humidity. We also thought it would help us to cope with the pollen as well. The local news reported the Oak pollen is very high at 3649 when a reading in the 90's is considered high!

Tree:

  • 0 - 14 Low
  • 15 - 89 Moderate
  • 90 – 1,499 High
  • >1,500 Very High

Monday, we took a ride out to Buda, Tx. I wanted to get the oil changed on Joyce's car and she needed a few things from Walmart, so we rode to the Super Walmart in Buda to accomplish both tasks. I had mentioned in a previous post the antique farm equipment visible in some fields. We were on FM150 when we came across this antique tractor in a field.

We pulled over in the adjacent gated driveway and discovered the tractor belonged to this Texas Historic Ranch. The Family Land Heritage Program honors farms and ranches that have been in continuous agricultural operation by the same family for 100 years or more. The program is designed to recognize and chronicle the unique history of Texas agriculture and the men and women who settled this great state and continue the tradition today.

Good friends of ours, George and Bonnie would have really appreciated this tractor. George likes to collect functional tractors. I'm sure this one doesn't run!

After doing some shopping, we headed home and relaxed.  Closing out the evening with some grilling outdoors.
