September 2, 2011 North American RV Park, Coram, Montana.

Today was a travel day to Coram, Montana and North American RV Park about 5 miles outside of Glacier National Park. We are still traveling with Paul and Paula and we all managed to get hitched by 9:30 and on the road just before 10:00 a.m.

We only had about 130 or so miles to travel today. Paul was still concerned that the Ford dealership may not have fixed his turbo hose issue, so he drove it hard out the gate to be sure it wouldn't blow the hose and if it did we were still close to Missoula!

Paul and Paula took the lead and it seems their turbo hose issue has been resolved as we climbed some healthy hills.

Later we all agreed that the ride was one of the most beautiful travel routes we have taken.

Traveling along the east side of Flathead Lake.

Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake in the western part of the contiguous United States. With a surface area of about 191.5 sq mi, or 197 sq mi, it is slightly larger than Lake Tahoe. The lake is a remnant of the ancient inland sea,Lake Missoula of the era of the last interglacial. Flathead Lake is 27.3 mi (43.9 km) long and up to 15.5 mi (24.9 km) wide. Its known maximum depth is 370.7 ft (113.0 m), making it deeper than the average depths of the Yellow Sea or the Persian Gulf. The lake was raised 10 ft (3.0 m) by Kerr Dam. It is one of the cleanest in the populated world for its size and type.

After just a couple of hours we arrived at North American RV Park. We were assigned two sites H-18 and H-20 next to each other. We paid for four (4) days at $30 a day with the Good Sam's discount and the off-season rate which began on Sept. 1.  In-season the rate is $39.50.

The altitude here is just over 3K feet. It's a nice park with gravel roads and pads bordered with grass. Some sites have trees but not ours. Our sites have full hook-ups to include WiFi but not cable. 

Highway noise is noticeable but not bad. In addition, there seems to be trains running through the area on a regular basis. Again, it's not a problem for us. The temps today were very mild with a high of 70. Tonight there's a "Frost Advisory"!

Obviously, we are here to check out Glacier National Park, so we plan to make the most of it over the next few days!
