Travel Day to Montrose, Co. and Country Village RV Resort

July 13, 2010.
We awoke to a beautiful morning in the Colorado "Banana Belt". Today was a travel day so we would be leaving the cool temperatures in Buena Vista and headed for the lower altitude of Montrose Co. and thus warmer temperatures.
We are headed to Country Village RV Resort about 10 miles south of Montrose Co. We hope to check out Ouray and Silverton while in the area.
We got hitched and pulled out around 9:30. Joyce followed in the Jeep. We were expecting to travel about 150 miles.

We took Highway 50 West over Monarch Pass. Not a particularly difficult pass but long and steady climbing.
Rico and Maggie also made the climb...

There was a group of motorcyclist and other motorists at the summit. There's also a restaurant and gift shop.

The ride on Highway 50 was full of ups and downs and curves. We traveled past Blue Mesa Reservoir which was just beautiful. We also encountered some rain along the way. We got to Montrose around 1:00 and the temperatures were around 88 degrees. I'm so gonna miss the cool temps in Buena Vista! Buena Vista was at an altitude of 8K ft. Montrose is around 6K feet.
After arriving at Country Village RV Resort we had our choice of lots. The park is very large but virtually empty. We chose lot 42 which has a lot of shade, 50 amps and full hook-ups including WiFi. We paid $183 for a week.

The site is large with healthy grass. It's my understanding that years ago this was a mobile home park. We are backed up to a small creek. Beyond the creek is the clubhouse, pool and sauna.

Rico was exhausted from all the driving and had to take an afternoon nap. Unfortunately he decided to take his nap in our bed!

Overall, our initial impression of this park is favorable. It should make a good location from which to explore the area.
